Description / Hypothesis
Moving the search bar on inventory pages to make it more visible to page visitors will help reduce bounce rate for those pages, as well as increase Ad-Buy and Ad-Rent conversions.
Post-Mortem Analysis
Post Mortem
Though only running for 11 days, this test was mostly a loss, with the original’s CVR (2.4%) outperforming that of the variant (1.42%), resulting in a 40% difference.
While the search bar was repositioned to catch the viewer’s eye, several factors may have hindered the experiment’s performance. The search bar’s new positioning and placeholder text may have been too close to the actual inventory, muddling the visitors’ experience. When typing, a lengthy drop down menu appears under the bar, blocking many of the thumbnails of the actual ads.
Another version of this experiment will place the search bar in a more convenient location, attempting to accomplish the same goal.
